Information

The Arundel Vocal Arts Society is a community singing group of approximately 60 men and women from all parts of Anne Arundel County who simply enjoy the art of singing in a choral environment. The Society was formed 22 years ago to support the art of choral singing by performing a wide variety of musical styles with orchestral accompaniment.

The chorus' repertoire ranges from classical choral masterworks and traditional Christmas pieces performed with orchestra to Broadway musicals and standard popular music performed with instrumental ensembles. It is a goal of Arundel Vocal Arts to maintain a high caliber profile by giving performances that are dignified, yet exciting for both the audience and the singers.

Besides the two major concerts that annually comprise its season (classical and Christmas music in December; Broadway and pops in the Spring), the group has also performed at the following:

  • Carnegie Hall
  • The Vatican for Pope John Paul
  • Downs State Park
  • The Maryland State House
  • The Annapolis Waterfront Festivals
  • A Concert for the Performing Arts Association of Linthicum
  • A Concert for the Anne Arundel Community Concert Association
  • Joint Concerts With the Annapolis Opera and the Ballet Theater of Annapolis.

Membership is open to the public and we are currently seeking new singers in all voice ranges. (Tenors and Basses are especially welcome!!) Auditions may be arranged by calling (410) 268-3131. Prospective new members are asked to sit in on a rehearsal and arrange an individual audition session with the director the following week.

Rehearsals are held at Annapolis Area Christian School, Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD. on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30. Rehearsals for the 2005-2006 season will begin on September 7, 2005.
